215/365 - Memorial Day

I actually took time in the morning to reflect, and remember, those who have fought and died, as well as those whom I have loved, and have died.
I went out and spent some time with my aunt, grandma & grandpa. It was lovely; a big line of cars going into the cemetery, but it's such a big place, no one was around where I was.

Snapped very quickly as of course the light turned green just as I got the camera out: skateboarders (and some spectators) on the underpass as I was waiting to get back on the freeway after my first venture to the Hazardous Waste Collection Center in San Pedro. I gathered from their reaction, they didn't have a lot of private parties dropping off 5 gallon cans of asbestos from god knows what year.

And they WORK!Check out these vintage boxes! Not to mention the lights themselves, which I can't believe most of them still worked great!

212/365 - Happy Christmas

3 big boxes of mostly tattered, faded decorations and ornaments. More than half went in the recycle bin. But a lot of icicles left over!

Someone in my chair.

What is up with flies that don't want to move? This guy had to be nudged more than once to get him away. Blech.

Back to cleaning out the garage today... oh, I hope it ends soon! If I didn't keep coming across items like this:Oh, grandpa, WHAT were you saving all these nails for?!?!
(note: the 'therapy putty' container, is plastic, shallow, and empty. WHY was it being saved, WHY?!?)

But how handy to have a sharpener in the garage. I guess grandpa did a bit of work out there. *sniff*

I've never seen an iris this color! She was hidden away among roses and small lilies ... must clear out that corner of the garden. What a beauty!

More veggies! More herbs! Only a couple of casualties, but overall, everyone seems quite happy!

I can't wait to get an iPhone!
I took loads, and they all turned out crap.
But...
this is my hero, Steve Martin, playing banjo with a Bluegrass band at the new Club Nokia in Downtown LA, to promote his new cd of (songs HE wrote) bluegrass music. It was so much fun!

Trees! I have trees now! In the background, a peppermint tree; in the foreground, a baby orange tree!
